Bias in the Scientific Literature

• Letter to a Dissident Scientist:  Brian Martin tells of the fate that many innovative (dissident) scientists face from academia.

• Against Excessive Skepticism:  a collection of quotes on skepticism from famous people though the ages.

• JunkScience: An excellent site which exposes the biases of those who purport to be scientists.   "Junk science" is defined as faulty scientific data and analysis used to further a special agenda.  I especially liked the article Peer Review: Reform or Revolution? Time to Open Up the Black Box of Peer Review.

• In Defense of Smokers:   An excellent analysis of the fanatical perversion of Science in regards to this issue.  He sheds a lot of light on this emotionally charged issue.  Anyone who is not upset about how scientific truth has given way to Political Correctness, is biased beyond redemption.

• Scholarly Journals at the Crossroads: A Subversive Proposal for Electronic Publishing:  This is a website that summarizes the a book by this title that was ironically put out by the Association of Research Libraries.  It deals with the future of "scientific and scholarly journals" in this era of the internet.

• Should Original Medical Research Be Posted On The Internet? A short pro/con discussion from 1996, in which Dr. LaPorte was prophetic when he said that "fraudulent research is more likely to be filtered out on the Internet than by journal review. "  Here at the Journal of Theoretics we are trying to do our part.
