| About Science's 4/30/99 article on the Journal of Theoretics: I
do appreciate the hundreds of people who contacted me with their indignation about the
above report. I was contacted by the author of this report who stated that
she was
interested in writing an article about the journal. I was never told that a piece was
written let alone that it was a hatchet job. I guess that I was naive to think that we
would get an honest piece that I was led to believe. Contrary to the perception above, we
are an honest and professional nonprofit peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the
advancement of scientific thought. About the only things they got right was the spelling
of my name and the journal's website address.
The cost of creating a web journal and maintaining it in a professional and competent
manner is far from cheap and takes the dedication of many volunteers who believe in the
worthwhile nature of our endeavor. It is not something that someone is going to do on a
lark, to make millions, or for some evil purpose. Unlike "other publications,"
the Journal of Theoretics believes in truth and honor rather than in circulation and
profit. The origin of the Journal of Theoretics is based on the pure desire to advance
scientific knowledge in a manner that was not currently being accomplished in the
status-quo journals.
They say that any publicity is good publicity but since I am a stickler for logic, honor,
ethics, and truth, I have submitted the following article of correction which is based
upon factual information (something the original report severely lacked) to Science for
publication in their Letters section. If they do not publish this letter of correction, it
will say much about the truth and credibility of this publication and its organization
(AAAS). Being a member of AAAS and a subscriber to Science, I would have hoped for more
but obviously the powers that be have another agenda. I will keep everyone updated.
